Anna Gustafson is a born storyteller who grew up in the tiny, predominantly Scandinavian, fishing town of Lund, BC and now makes her home in Canada’s largest city, Toronto. Her stories come from the places in between.
A touring professional comedian for more than two decades, she has appeared on Just For Laughs, CBC’s Comics!, The George Stroumboulopoulos Show, Cracking Up The Capital Comedy Festival, CBC Radio’s Laugh Out Loud, Madly Off In All Directions and The Debaters to name a few good ones.
Anna’s public speaking began at TEDx; she has co-produced two comedy festivals, two “virtual” Red Carpets at the Toronto International Film Festival, wrote and produced "Ask Alexi", campaign to draw attention to the absurd gender disparity in politics, Associate Producer of the short film "COLD" with Mixed State Productions, and is leaning hard into screenwriting. Likely in the woods.
As the Comedian in Residence at Gilda’s Club Toronto, Anna is the producer and host of Never Mind Comedy, a small comedic break for those with cancer in their orbit.
Her stories are published in quarterly “Barnacle” as Lund Kid Revisionist History - a humour column which reflects on life in a very, very small town, Some excerpts below.
"Ask Alexi" is a series of comedic shorts created for Informed Opinions and their Balance of Power digital campaign highlighting the absurdities of gender disparity in politics. Please dig into their good work and help amplify their mission. @balanceofpower
